Springfield Underground Command Station

The Springfield Underground Command Station is designed to provide a resting place for over-the-road truck drivers, as well as an elevated security patrol for a large semitrailer staging area. The project is valued at $1 million, according to a building permit on file with the city. The structure is a glass box wrapped with a fiberglass bar grate to provide sun shading. Dake Wells Architecture Inc. is the project architect, with DeWitt & Associates Inc. as general contractor. Engineering work is provided by Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Inc., civil; J&M Engineering LLC, structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is slated for completion in June.
Missouri State University’s science building, built in 1971 and formerly called Temple Hall, is being reconstructed and updated.
