Description: The 32,700-square-foot Aurora Recreation and Event Center will be nestled on a 24-acre site and offer fitness, wellness and community amenities, according to project officials. On the recreation side, there are two fitness studios and a gym with a basketball court planned. One fitness studio opens to a back patio to allow for indoor-outdoor classes. The second-floor track is designed to overlook the lower level. A flexible 3,000-square-foot event space is designed to accommodate a large gathering or can be divided into three rooms. On the event side, engineering officials say the use of masonry creates a formal look, while the recreation side uses vibrant contemporary elements. The exterior facade is designed with metal panels.
