Opinion: YPs writing our city song

2021 40 Under 40

Posted online

One of my favorite parts of putting together the 40 Under 40 publication is reading the honorees’ responses to the Q&As that appear at the end of their profiles. There’s much more content submitted than we’re able to print, but it provides a fun snapshot into personalities and values of these accomplished young professionals.

This year I listened to the honorees theme songs like an awards playlist. The diversity was striking. Some songs pushed me to the edge of my comfort level and others made me think deeply. Some familiar songs brought a smile to my face and some new favorites boosted my energy for the workday.

Like their theme songs, these young professionals bring their own ideas and flavor to their office and community work. As one honoree said in her profile, if two people at the table have the same point of view, one is irrelevant. Thank goodness for the diversity this class shows – in all the ways we can be diverse.

This 40 Under 40 class is writing our city’s song. Don’t you like how it sounds? I sure do.

Congratulations to the 2021 class of 40 Under 40 honorees!
