2021 40 Under 40: Corey Kilburn

Owner and Founding Attorney, RoundTable Legal LLC

Posted online

Following his passion to step out of the box of a traditional law firm was the motivation for Corey Kilburn, 38, to start RoundTable Legal LLC in 2019.
He left McAnany, Van Cleave and Phillips PC after six years to begin his boutique practice, which focuses on intellectual property, entertainment, business and employment law. Aside from his legal services, which are on a fixed fee or subscription basis, Kilburn provides education and encouragement to business owners and creatives.

His support of the local arts and entertainment community reaches outside of the workplace, as Kilburn serves on the Springfield Regional Arts Council Board of Directors and offers pro bono work as its legal counsel.

Proudest moment? The day I became a dad. Second was the day I became a different kind of proud parent and opened my law firm.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Appreciate challenges and losses. And remember to always try to be the person your dog thinks you are.

Theme song? “I Lived” by One Republic. It’s about taking risks and the power of having grit, passion and perseverance in spite of adversity, naysayers or mistakes.

Recent TV show binge? “The Queen’s Gambit.”

Favorite hobby or pastime? Spending time with my amazing wife and boys. Everything pop-culture, especially film and theater. I am also a die-hard fantasy footballer.
