2021 40 Under 40: Bethany Parsons

Attorney and Shareholder, Turner, Reid, Duncan, Loomer and Patton PC

Posted online

In the last year, attorney Bethany Parsons, 39, has displayed her leadership skills. The pandemic tested her inventiveness both in the field and within Turner, Reid, Duncan, Loomer and Patton PC. From the outset, she led the firm in creating COVID-19 policy for employees and has had the unusual experience of trying a jury trial at White River Conference Center, which became a legal venue due to coronavirus precautions.

But Parsons says her greatest professional achievement was winning a two-week medical malpractice trial that asked for an $8 million settlement. She says it was one of the largest defense verdicts in Missouri that year.

Parsons says she hopes to help more women find leadership positions in the historically male-dominated law field.

First job? Imo’s on Cherry and Pickwick. My title was salad girl.

Proudest moment? One of my partners and I were honored for winning one of the largest defense verdicts in Missouri after we won a jury trial in a complex medical malpractice case.

What about your job would shock people? I think about my clients much more than when I am just in the office. Because we become so immersed in the job and some cases take years to resolve, it’s an odd feeling when they suddenly end.
