Toth and Associates Inc. is the civil and structural engineer for Springfield Public Schools’ new York Elementary. The $15.6 million project consists of demolishing the existing school and constructing a two-story, 61,000-square-foot building. A community room will provide space for extracurricular use, and a tornado safe room will serve as a gymnasium and music room during school hours, officials say. Paragon Architecture LLC worked with Sapp Design Associates Architects PC to design the facility with safety and modern aesthetics in mind, incorporating secured entrances and a variety of collaborative learning spaces. R.E. Smith Construction Co. is the general contractor, and Interpres Building Solutions LLC is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer. The project is expected to be completed in August 2022.
Missouri State University’s science building, built in 1971 and formerly called Temple Hall, is being reconstructed and updated.
