Project description: Bluebird Underground LLC, Springfield’s only colocation data center, is growing through an aggressive capital improvement plan, officials say. The expansion includes 25,000 square feet for a Tier III data center, 6 megawatts of underground generation and a cooling system, which leverages the mine environment and physical protections underground. Officials say the improvements better prepare the company for national trends in hosting, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
