The site of a shuttered car wash is now home to pet care business Paws & Claws, which opened Nov. 8 at 204 W. Plainview Road. Jamie Tillman and Shannon Elliott own the venture through 417Paws LLC, providing day care, boarding and grooming services for cats and dogs. Tillman said startup costs were $1 million, including the purchase and remodeling of the 4,400-square-foot former Ye Olde Buggy Bath that had been vacant for roughly 10 years. Plainview Property LLC, which is affiliated with Tillman Properties, bought the building from 204 Plainview LLC, registered to car wash veteran Greg Byler, according to the Greene County recorder’s office and Missouri secretary of state filings. Paws & Claws employs eight, Tillman said, adding it also has a special area in the building for cats with a separate entrance and luxury cat condos. Dog day care is $32 per day with seven yards to offer custom play groups for each dog’s size and temperament. Cat boarding is $30 per night and $45 nightly for dogs with discounts available, according to its website.

SoMo Corn Co.
A father and son launched SoMo Corn Co. LLC on July 19. Logan Peebles, who owns his first-time business venture with his dad, Kevin, said the company targets farmers by selling whole bulk field corn, a crop mostly used for feeding livestock. The corn is dispensed at 1521 W. Mount Vernon St., Nixa, by a vending machine with a capacity for 58,000 pounds of product. Peebles said the corn is grown at their family farm in Clever, where they also raise beef cattle and grow soybeans and wheat. Customers enter how many pounds of corn they want to purchase on a digital touchscreen pad and pay with cash or card. Corn is then distributed from a hopper into a container, which customers must supply. Peebles said corn currently sells at 20 cents per pound with a $5 minimum and $100 maximum purchase per transaction. The vending machine is open 24/7. Declining to disclose startup costs, he said SoMo Corn Co. was started to provide locally grown corn at a lower price than feed stores.

HAD Hydration
After launching in November 2022 as a mobile IV therapy business, HAD Hydration LLC opened a brick-and-mortar clinic June 1 at 202 S. West St., Ste. 4, in Nixa. Jaysen McKinney said he co-owns the venture with his wife, Cortney, who is the majority owner. Declining to disclose startup costs or lease terms, he said the wellness center, which employs two, is in the process of adding two additional part-time workers. Cortney McKinney has over 20 years of experience in health care, including six years as a medic in the U.S. Army and 13 years as a registered nurse with Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California, according to LinkedIn. The clinic offers a variety of IV therapy options, including vitamin C, zinc and electrolytes. Treatments range $125-$195, while the clinic also offers $150 monthly memberships. Additional services include health coaching and nutrition DNA testing. HAD Hydration’s name incorporates the first initials of the McKinneys’ three children, Hannah, Addison and Dylan.
