Then: Community diversity and equity director, Community Partnership of the Ozarks Inc.
Now: Adviser to the city manager for diversity, equity and inclusion, city of Rockville, Maryland
Tyree Davis IV now lives around 1,000 miles from Springfield, where he formerly was employed by Community Partnership of the Ozarks.
Last year, he took a job as adviser to the city manager for diversity, equity and inclusion in the Maryland city of Rockville, located near Washington, D.C. There, he says he’s building Rockville’s DEI division from the ground up.
“The position was created after the murder of George Floyd,” Davis, 29, says, noting he’s working on “taking it from the diversity piece and moving in into the equity, the justice component.”
Shortly after his 40 Under 40 recognition, Davis realized his time in the Queen City had come to an end.
“I was just ready to leave,” he says, noting he cast a wide net looking for jobs elsewhere. “I feel like I had accomplished all I could in Springfield and Missouri.”
