2018 Office NV: Pitt Technology Group LLC

Subterranean Tech

Architect and Design: In-house

As recently as the beginning of this year, Pitt Technology Group’s office was a surface dweller. Now the technology company resides in Springfield Underground where black, blue and yellow adorn shipping containers used for office space and a conference room.

The 10,000-square-foot office in Building 15, previously used by Kraft Heinz Foods Co., is still a work in progress and only a temporary home for the company, which has designs on a custom-made home elsewhere within the underground environment.

“There aren’t really any drawbacks we found,” co-owner and General Manager Kevin Waterland says of moving underground, where the company already was utilizing 200 square feet for data center space. "We tried to come up with something that would unify us and we landed on foundations of technology.”
