Home Parenteral Services President Debbie Cain has devoted her career to elevating the level of health care available in the Ozarks to patients in their homes.

“As a leader in our organization for 25 years, I am passionate about the health care industry,” Cain says. “We save the patient time and money by receiving treatment in convenient locations, as well as their homes and, when appropriate, allow them to return to the workforce while continuing to receive their infusion and/or specialty therapy.”

Cain joined Home Parenteral Services as assistant director of nursing, and moved to director of nursing and vice president before being named president in 2015.

Home Parenteral Services, a division of CoxHealth, provides home infusion and specialty pharmacy services to patients in their homes.

“When I was first introduced to home infusion therapy, I saw opportunities to help alleviate the hardships placed upon patients, while at the same time, identifying how I could help create efficiencies and cost savings,” she says.

Cain says she focuses on developing a team of talented health care professionals and offering education to local agencies to build awareness and capabilities of infusion therapy and specialty pharmacy services.

“I am focused on ensuring my organization and other providers in the Ozarks are prepared to meet the needs of the growing population of patients eligible for treatment in alternative settings,” she says.

Cain strives to increase educational opportunities in her field through published articles with the National Home Infusion Association and other organizations’ workshops. She’s served on the board of directors of the Missouri Home Infusion Association for 10 years and also has been affiliated with the NHIA Board of Directors and foundation board.

She was a co-author of the “Standard of Practice for Infusion Therapy,” a guideline for developing organizational infusion-based policies and procedures which is still used in the industry today.

She was honored with the NHIA’s Gene Graves Award honoring a lifetime commitment and achievement in the home infusion industry.

“I am most fulfilled by hard work and the opportunities created by diversifying and growing our organization to ensure the sustainability of our company,” she says, adding she strives to position the company “as a leader in our industry while working to discover ways to deliver care to our patients in a more comfortable setting.”

Cain’s call to service extends past business hours. She joined medical and relief teams deployed to disaster areas, including Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina and Joplin after the town was hit by a tornado in 2011. She’s an active volunteer with Convoy of Hope.

For the last 16 years in the fall, Cain and her husband have organized and led an annual trip for a group of more than 40 senior adults averaging 75 years of age.

“We have really enjoyed traveling with this group, from Niagara Falls to the Grand Canyon and almost everywhere in between,” Cain says.
