Gov. Mike Kehoe announced that President Donald Trump has approved disaster assistance for Greene County and multiple others.
The decision makes the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Public Assistance program available to Greene County, according to a news release. That program is available to local governments and qualifying nonprofits for the repair and restoration of damaged roads, bridges and other public infrastructure.
“We thank President Trump for approving Missouri’s major disaster declaration and greatly appreciate the critical work handled by our local response agencies and the recovery efforts that are already underway," Kehoe said in the release.
Kehoe requested the federal disaster declaration on May 22.
Damage to public infrastructure and emergency response costs are an estimated $36 million, according to the release.
According to the news release, the FEMA Public Assistance program will be available for Carroll, Chariton, Holit, Howard, Monroe, Randolph, Ripley, Saline and St. Francois counties in addition to Greene.
