The GLO Center, a Springfield-based nonprofit that serves the LGBTQ+ community, has hired a new executive director.
Aaron Schekorra is scheduled to start in the role on Jan. 2, according to a news release. He will be the organization's first full-time executive director.
"Schekorra's primary responsibilities will include overseeing the strategic direction, fundraising efforts and community outreach initiatives of The GLO Center, ensuring the organization's mission and objectives are effectively carried out," officials said in the release.
The GLO Center's website currently lists Lou Hood as executive director. Nonprofit officials could not be reached immediately for comment this morning on the leadership transition.
Schekorra recently exited his three-year spokesperson role with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department. He's also the founder of Own Your Pride LLC, which specializes in online sales of pride flags and other merchandise geared toward the LGBTQ+ community, according to past reporting.
A job filing by The GLO Center for the executive director role lists a proposed salary of $50,000.
The GLO Center provides support, resources, education and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community.
