Skechers USA Inc. (NYSE: SKX) is expanding its physical footprint to the Queen City.
The footwear brand is targeting a mid-June opening at 3040 S. Glenstone Ave. in the Battlefield Square Shoppes center, said Brad Thessing, the local listing agent through Thessing Commercial Realty.
Thessing said Skechers is taking on roughly 15,000 square feet that previously housed Pier 1 Imports. The latter store closed in 2020, according to past reporting.
Skechers, which has a factory outlet in Branson, had nearly 3,900 stores as of Dec. 31, according to its latest quarterly report. Of those, over 2,500 are distributor, licensee and franchise stores.
Beyond its namesake shoes, Skechers also sells clothing such as men's and women's tops, hats and sunglasses, according to its website.
The Springfield News-Leader was first to report on the Skechers store plans, citing a "coming soon" sign at the shopping center.
