A Cajun seafood restaurant chain took over the Battlefield Mall space previously occupied by Ruby Tuesday.
Storming Crab fills 4,751 square feet on the east side of the Springfield shopping center at 2825 S. Glenstone Ave., said Amanda Estes, area director of marketing and business development for Battlefield Mall. The restaurant opened Sept. 5.
The menu includes crab, crawfish, shrimp and oysters.
Estes deferred questions on the ownership of the restaurant to its website, which does not have identifying information; an attempt to reach officials with the chain was unsuccessful by deadline. The Missouri secretary of state filing for Storming Crab Springfield Missouri LLC lists Xian Jian Ye as the organizer.
Storming Crab’s website lists more than 20 restaurants, including two others in Missouri – in Kirkwood and Florissant.
The Battlefield Mall site had been vacant for over a year.
The Ruby Tuesday restaurant closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic in March last year and did not reopen, said Estes.
