Springfield radio stations operated by Columbia-based Zimmer Midwest Communications Inc. have raised more than $92,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth.
Zimmer Midwest Communications' first Miracles for Kids Radiothon was held March 21-22, culminating with a $92,468 check presented to Children’s Miracle Network on Friday evening, according to a news release.
"100% of the money raised during the two-day event stays local to help kids right here in the Ozarks," Zimmer officials said in the release.
Through the radiothon, listeners of 98.7 The Dove, 101.3 Real Country, KWTO and The Jock 96.9 made donations to the cause. Listeners were asked to make pledges of $20 per month or $1 per day.
During the radiothon, the stations aired interviews with CoxHealth staff and administrators and "story songs" from kids and their parents who have utilized Children's Miracle Network's services, according to the release.
CoxHealth underwrites the administrative and operating expenses locally for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which support patients with bill and travel assistance, according to the organization’s website.
Springfield event venue Belamour LLC gained new ownership; The Wok on West Bypass opened; and Hawk Barber & Shop closed on a business purchase that expanded its footprint to Ozark.
