PCCC donates 2nd largest tally to children's charities

More than $1 million was presented to children's charities yesterday at Price Cutter Charity Championship's Celebration of Sharing luncheon.

During the McQueary family-hosted event at Highland Springs Country Club, organizers of the golf tournament issued $1.03 million to 53 nonprofits, according to a news release.

The total is the second highest in tournament history. In 2021 and 2022, the PCCC set back-to-back fundraising records, most recently with nearly $1.1 million last year, according to past reporting.

“Our community gets a huge standing ovation from us,” said Byron Shive, tournament executive director, in the release. “We are thankful that numerous businesses and individuals rallied to support our charities this year. Your efforts will help them meet their missions and make a true impact in the lives of those most in need in southwest Missouri.”

The fundraising component is a key aspect of the PCCC, a tournament on the PGA Korn Ferry Tour held this summer. Since its debut in 1990, the tournament at Highland Springs has raised roughly $20.5 million, with this year pushing the total above $20 million.

This year's tournament received support from more than 400 businesses and individuals, according to the release.
