Pappy's Place changing ownership

Posted online

Pappy's Place is changing ownership after being listed for sale last summer following the death of one if its owners.

Susan Rader, who purchased the 943 N. Main Ave. restaurant and bar with her late husband, Wayne, in late 2019, said she reached a deal to sell the business to Landon and Stephanie Campbell. Rader said the deal is valued at $350,000.

"I think they're going to be great," Rader said. "They're a wonderful couple. He likes music. She likes to cook."

The deal is expected to close Feb. 1, pending the Campbells' ability to secure a liquor license, said Rader, who has continued to operate the business since putting it up for sale.

The Campbells are new to restaurant ownership, Rader said.

"Pappy's is just one of those places that's not like your usual restaurant," she said. "It's all about relationships."

Rader said the deal includes the building housing Pappy's. A separate building at 947 N. Main Ave., where Pappy's had planned to expand prior to Wayne Rader's death, was not included in the sale, Susan Rader said, noting the Campbells will have the first right to buy the property if she decides to sell it.

Wayne Rader died in early 2023, according to past reporting.
