Hyde Gallery
After 30 years downtown, Hyde Gallery relocated April 15 to 1121 S. Glenstone Ave. Owner Jan Hyde said the gallery, which showcases landscape and abstract paintings as well as bronze, clay, glass and wood sculptures, occupies roughly 2,800 square feet of first-floor space in the Hyde, Love & Overby LLP law firm building, where her husband, Kent, is a partner. It previously operated at 221 E. Walnut St. Hyde said she and her husband sold the downtown building, which also houses PaPPo’s Pizzeria & Pub. The Hydes owned the building since 1989, she said. Greene County recorder filings show the Hydes sold the building March 16 to 5M Property Holdings Inc. A deed of trust between 5M Property Holdings and Springfield First Community Bank for the property lists a note amount of $480,000. Hyde said she is among 20 regional artists on display at the gallery, noting the building’s wood features are enhanced by the paintings throughout the public spaces.

Jiffy Lube
Jiffy Lube’s newest shop in the Ozarks opened May 11 at 516 N. Old Wilderness Road in Nixa. Startup costs, including construction of the 4,000-square-foot building, were roughly $2.5 million, said Steve Isom, executive vice president of Jiffy Lube franchisee Stonebriar Auto Services LLC. Chesterfield-based Knoebel Construction Inc. was general contractor for the project designed by St. Louis-based Casco Diversified Corp. Isom said two of the shop’s four bays are dedicated to fast oil changes, and the others handle alignment, batteries, brakes, tires, tuneups and other services. Manager Lori Wilson leads the 10-employee staff, he said. According to the company’s website, there are over 2,000 Jiffy Lube shops nationwide. The Nixa shop’s launch follows Frisco, Texas-based Stonebriar Auto Services’ December 2020 opening of a Jiffy Lube at 3510 W. Sunshine St.

Penmac Staffing Services
Springfield-based Penmac Staffing Services Inc. expanded its local footprint with the April 13 addition of a Republic office. Spokesperson Sara Corman said the staffing agency occupies 850 square feet at 618 E. Elm St. She declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms with landlord Chastain Investments LLC. Brandon Stokes is manager of the two-employee Republic branch, she said, which marks the company’s 33rd in eight states. Corman said the new office was spurred by the continuing residential and commercial growth in Republic, as well as the desire to have a branch west of Springfield. Penmac also added an on-site office in March at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine St., Corman said, allowing visitors to interview and receive on-the-spot job offers from a staffing specialist. The agency provides temporary, temp-to-hire and direct-hire job services to employers, with divisions specializing in clerical, education, industrial and transportation staffing, she said.
