Howler Co.
Howler Co., an outdoor gear retailer with mountain biking roots, opened Nov. 20 at 2714 S. Glenstone Ave. in Brentwood Center North. Max Penny, who co-owns the venture with his parents, John and Jennifer Penny, said he wanted to expand beyond biking into the outdoor retail space with the new store filling 2,225 square feet. The space formerly housed Simply Mac, an Apple product shop that shuttered. Max Penny declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms with Jared Commercial Real Estate LLC. He said Howler Co. is an extension of Howler Bike Park LLC, a 200-acre attraction in Walnut Shade the Pennys opened in 2022. The Howler Co. shop launch comes after the owners closed a location in September of Howler Bike Co. – rebranded last year from Mountain Movement LLC – at 5360 S. Campbell Ave., Ste. D. Another Howler Bike Co. shop remains in operation at 615 S. Pickwick Ave. in the Rountree neighborhood. Penny said the three-employee Howler Co. sells outdoor lifestyle products, including camping equipment, boots, hiking gear and bikes.

Table Rock Community Bank
Kimberling City-based Table Rock Community Bank opened its newest branch Oct. 23 in Crane at 17 Greencove Lane. Shannon Dotson, the bank’s marketing and business development officer, said the company expanded its presence with the branch opening, as it replaced a loan production office that opened in 2022 at 205 Pirate Lane. Dotson said after opening the loan production office, the bank quickly saw a need to add full-service community banking in northern Stone County. That led to it earlier this year purchasing the Greencove Lane property across from Crane High School and next to Crane Presbyterian Church. At the site, Springfield-based Federal Construction Inc. renovated an 1,800-square-foot home at an undisclosed price, he said. The temporary branch joins two other bank locations, in Branson West and Kimberling City. Dotson said the bank is in the preliminary stages of adding a permanent facility in Crane at an undetermined date. Branch services include checking and savings accounts, as well as business and commercial loans.

Horton Electric Service Co.
Des Moines, Iowa-based The Waldinger Co. closed Aug. 24 on the acquisition of Horton Electric Service Co. Adam Lackey, director of marketing and communications for The Waldinger Co., declined to disclose terms of the purchase of the 20-year-old Springfield electrical service contractor. Lackey said Horton Electric founder Rich Horton stayed on board as a project manager, adding his team of 28 electricians also were retained. The company kept its name as a division of The Waldinger Corp., although Lackey said the employees relocated to 1219 E. Division St. from 3002 E. Division St., Ste. C., as part of the deal. Lackey said the acquisition added Horton’s electrician team to Waldinger’s existing commercial heating, ventilating and air conditioning, plumbing and refrigeration services in the Springfield area. The Waldinger Co. in 2021 previously acquired Springfield-based Connelly Plumbing, Heating and Air and its sister company, CMI Mechanical, which also are housed at 1219 E. Division St.
