Springfield's hotel industry is experiencing a drop in occupancy so far this year.
Occupancy among the lodging facilities in city limits dipped to 59.6% in April from 62.3% in the same month a year earlier, according to a blog post showing the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau's latest data.
"Springfield hotels are beginning to feel the impact of a slowing economy," CVB officials said in the post.
On a year-to-date basis, occupancy was 54.9% for the four-month period ending April 30. That's down from 57.6% during the same period of 2022.
Room revenue in April slid by 1.7% compared with the same month a year earlier. However, the figure for the four-month period rose by 1.7%.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
