Description: The North Fork regional detention basin is one of five regional stormwater detention facilities upstream of the city of West Plains designed to reduce peak flow volumes in the downstream system during major storm events. The project includes construction of an earthen dam, principal spillway and auxiliary spillway-related appurtenances on the North Fork of Howell Creek, project officials say. Once completed, the five basins will impound 300 million gallons of water during the peak stage of a storm event.
