Nixa cafe closes as new owner sought

Posted online

A Nixa cafe in business since 2018 has closed as a new owner is sought.

Morning Day Cafe announced in a Facebook post yesterday that it "will be closed until a new owner is obtained."

"We understand the importance that MDC has in the community and intend on bringing back the exceptional food and service once the proper people are in place," the post reads. "We will only consider buyers with prior restaurant experience that are financially stable and intend on upholding the Morning Day Cafe image and reputation."

Located at 101 S. Main St., the Nixa restaurant has menu items that include the Breakfast Chimichanga, The Bomblette, an omelet with pulled pork and cheddar cheese curds, and S.S. Wafflebird, a dish of sweet and spice Belgian waffles. It also serves coffee, tea and other drinks.

In a separate Facebook post on April 14, Morning Day Cafe indicated co-owner Miranda Barchers had retired. The post stated that investor Mark Anderson partnered with Barchers to open the restaurant in 2018.

"Mr. Anderson was left with the decision to keep the cafe going or let it close down. With the change in management and the uncertainty of the future of MDC, several of the employees decided to leave," the post reads.
