The Missouri College of Cosmetology has closed.
The closure was announced yesterday on the Springfield training school's Facebook page.
"We would like to thank everyone for over 40 years of loyalty," the posts reads. "Thank you so much for your patronage and God bless you all in your future endeavors."
A call to the school was met with a voicemail with similar messaging indicating the Missouri College of Cosmetology shut down on March 13. The school's website additionally states the school is "permanently closed."
An internet archive of the website indicates the school was founded in 1981 by Roddie Hughes. Jeffery Stanley, a student of the school, in 1994 became Hughes' partner and in 1996 took over full ownership, according to the website.
The school in 2000 became accredited through the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences, according to the website.
The Missouri College of Cosmetology operated at 3014 E. Sunshine St. in Southern Hills Shopping Center.
