Industry veteran to lead OMB Bank's entry into KC market

OMB Bank is entering the Kansas City market with the help of an industry veteran.

Doug Parker, who joined the company in February as senior vice president and community bank president, will lead OMB's new loan production office in Lenexa, Kansas, according to a news release.

“OMB has been exploring growth opportunities for some time and has been doing commercial and agricultural lending in the state of Kansas for several years, so expanding our presence into Lenexa feels like a perfect fit,” Parker said in the release.

Expected to open in the third quarter, the loan production office would be OMB's ninth location. Company officials say the goal is to transition into a full-service branch, and they’ve begun submitting necessary materials to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

The loan production office in the mixed-use Lenexa City Center initially would offer commercial lending and treasury management services, officials say.

“Our mission at OMB has always revolved around convenient and meaningful community banking done better,” said Mark Harrington, OMB president and CEO, in the release. “Our plan with this new LPO – located in a growing, thriving and highly desirable area – helps us deliver on that commitment."

In tapping Parker to lead the office, OMB is drawing on his 30-year banking career. In 2020-21, Parker led Little Rock, Arkansas-based Encore Bank in establishing a presence in the Queen City, according to past reporting.

Parker also recently formed digital forensics firm Digital Forensics Group LLC, Springfield Business Journal previously reported.
