“Baby Boomers, in particular, we get our identity or at least a large part of our identity from our work,” says Greg Burris, with Give 5 and United Way of the Ozarks. Having a retirement plan in place can help retirees alleviate feelings that something is missing from life. Burris says employers have a social responsibility to help with the transition. “We’re working with employers in our community to try and help maybe adjust or add to their pre-retirement seminars so they start to help people prepare how they’re going to feel when we tie away your key, turn off your email, and stop inviting you to things.”

A safe room and classroom addition at Willard Central Elementary School will be used by the music, arts and athletic programs for a district that had 4,536 students last year, according to Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education figures, but school officials say enrollment is projected to grow.
