Among the 355 largest U.S. counties, Greene County ranked No. 81 in first quarter percentage wage growth, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Greene County’s average weekly wage rose 3.7% to $847 during the first three months of 2019, according to a news release.
Wages grew faster in Greene County than any of the other six top counties in Missouri. However, its average weekly wages were the lowest.
Below are the Missouri counties, by wages, growth percentage and wage-growth rank nationwide, in first quarter 2019:
• City of St. Louis (which also is a county), $1,283, 2.3%, No. 200;
• County of St. Louis, $1,240, 2.9%, No. 144;
• Jackson, $1,113, 2.4%, No. 191;
• St. Charles, $994, 3.5%, No. 92;
• Clay, $960, 1.2%, No. 283;
• Boone, $855, 2.8%, No. 153; and
• Greene, $847, 3.7%, No. 81.
Of the 355 largest U.S. counties, 325 posted increases in average weekly wages compared with first quarter 2018, according to the release.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
