GOP operative with ties to Springfield charged in federal indictment

Doug Wead, a GOP operative with ties to Springfield, pleaded not guilty this week to charges in a federal indictment.

Wead, who attended Central Bible College in Springfield, is charged with allegedly funneling funds from a Russian national into former President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign.

Another veteran Republican campaign operative, Jesse Benton, also was charged in the indictment.
