Project description: The framework for a 133,000-square-foot standalone pediatric outpatient facility is taking shape on Primrose Street, west of the CoxHealth system’s Ferrell-Duncan Clinic. St. Louis Children’s at CoxHealth Specialty Care Center, a joint project of CoxHealth and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, will make the expertise of pediatric physicians from WashU Medicine available in southwest Missouri, reducing the need for long trips for care, according to the CoxHealth website. The plans include a Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit and pediatric inpatient care. According to past Springfield Business Journal reporting, there will also be specialized care, including pediatric cardiology, hematology/oncology, ophthalmology, pediatric surgery and urology, with more to come.
