“Every day you’ve gotta wake up and say, ‘I’ve gotta make money today,’" says, Ricky Smiley, Founder and Producer of Smiley Records, LLC. When Smiley was laid off from a job he held for 18 years, he decided to make his side gig a full time pursuit. “I had nowhere to go. I didn’t know what I was gonna do,” Smiley said. “I’ve already done all this homework. A safe room and classroom addition at Willard Central Elementary School will be used by the music, arts and athletic programs for a district that had 4,536 students last year, according to Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education figures, but school officials say enrollment is projected to grow.
