U.K. companies reported successful results in a test of a four-day workweek.
In the trial, 61 British businesses ranging from banks to fast-food restaurants to marketing agencies gave workers a paid day off a week. The companies found the shorter workweek resulted in sharp drops in worker turnover and absenteeism while largely maintaining productivity during the six-month study, according to The Wall Street Journal.
More than 90% of the companies plan to continue testing the shorter week, while 18 are making it permanent.
