Downtown staple Chicago Cheesesteak Co. is rebranding.
Owner Chris Turbov announced in a news release the restaurant – operating in a 7-foot wide space at 319 1/2 E. Walnut St. – would change its name to The 7th On Walnut by the first quarter of 2022. His Chicago Cheesesteak restaurant at 303 E. Battlefield Road will be unchanged.
"The reasons for the name change are both personal and business related,” Turbov said in the release. “We feel we can be our creative selves with the rebranding and that something more unique will fit the downtown scene better.
"The change to the downtown location will not only be a fun new chapter, but it will add to downtown’s artsy, unique, almost eclectic vibe.”
The 7th on Walnut will continue to serve the restaurant's favorite sandwiches, such as its namesake sub and traditional Philly, and add healthier options.
Turbov said The 7th On Walnut name was chosen because the restaurant is the seventh door on Walnut Street off Jefferson Avenue.
Founded in 2009, Chicago Cheesesteak added its Battlefield Road location in 2014, according to past reporting.
