Downtown Springfield restaurant Yoselin’s Mexican Cuisine & More LLC is rebranding as its owners transfer the business to their daughter and son-in-law.
Sofia Pavon-Wilson, daughter of Yoselin’s owners Juan Pavon and Maria Hernandez, said she and her husband Denver are targeting a Jan. 3 opening for Tequila & Mezcal Mexican Cuisine and Bar at 431 S. Jefferson Ave.
“My husband’s always been dabbling with the idea of being an entrepreneur,” Pavon-Wilson said.
Pavon-Wilson said she and her husband previously held a small stake in Yoselin’s. She said her parents are transferring ownership and that no money is changing hands in the deal.
The Wilsons, who live near Monett, plan to eventually move to Springfield. Pavon-Wilson said in the short term, her parents would manage Tequila & Mezcal Mexican Cuisine and Bar as they near retirement.
Tequila & Mezcal Mexican Cuisine and Bar will be a more upscale concept, Pavon-Wilson said, noting cocktails utilizing the two varieties of alcohol in the restaurant’s name are in the works.
“Think of it like your version of moonshine,” she said of mezcal.
Yoselin’s opened in November 2016 at Wilhoit Plaza, where Asian restaurant Blu Sesame previously operated, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
A Facebook post announcing the changes indicates the restaurant’s last day as Yoselin’s will be on Saturday.
Evergreen Hair House opened; the Ozark Chamber of Commerce moved to a new home; and Dirk’s Tavern LLC got its start on C-Street.
