A documentary featuring Michael Spyres, an internationally recognized opera singer who serves as artistic director of Springfield-based Ozarks Lyric Opera, is set to debut this weekend.

The world premiere for the documentary, called "An OverKnight Success: The Crazy Life of an Opera Singer," is scheduled 2:30 p.m. March 24 at the Gillioz Theatre. Tickets are $25, according to Ozark Lyric Opera's website.

"This documentary, filmed for over a decade across many countries and several continents, gives an insight to Spyres’ humble beginnings in the Ozark mountains and follows him to his current hectic, crazy life as a leading operatic star, and French knight, performing on the world’s biggest stages," the website reads.

Directed by Edoardo Zucchetti, "An OverKnight Success" pays homage to the fact that Spyres received the honor of Knighthood of the Arts and Letters from the French government in 2021, according to past reporting.

"We traveled to 21 different countries, and we documented my insane life," Spyres said in an October interview with Springfield Business Journal. "It's a very on-the-road kind of documentary. You have me singing for kings and things like that. But then you also have me backstage at 3 in the morning, driving and eating pizza through the Alps."

Spyres in November was named Male Singer of the Year at the International Opera Awards in Warsaw, Poland, according to past reporting.
