Curb Appeal: High-end market stays hot

Posted online

Springfield's high-end home market stayed hot in June after May set the standard for the summer.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of 25 single-family homes within city limits that were listed last month with asking prices of $500,000 or more. That's down slightly from 28 in May – the top month of the year to date for the number of listings – and up from 23 in April.

The residences listed in June have combined asking prices of $20.1 million, according to data from the Southern Missouri Regional MLS.

Four homes were listed above the $1 million mark. The highest priced among them, at $1.75 million, is located on 5 acres east of Costco and northeast of Hickory Hills Country Club.

June data from the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors show the average sale price for homes was $313,980, a 5% increase from the same month in 2022. Total units sold decreased to 622 last month from 770 in June 2022.

The Missouri Realtors association's latest market statistics report indicates the average sale price in May was $299,406, a 3.4% increase from a year earlier. Realtors sold 6,836 residential properties statewide during May, according to the report.
