Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield received a donation from the Panda Cares Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Panda Express restaurant chain.
The $20,000 donation is earmarked for the nonprofit to provide in-person and virtual learning opportunities for underserved children, according to a news release. The funds go toward a pilot of the Panda Cares Centers of Hope, which are dedicated areas planned inside some 500 Boys & Girls Clubs organizations nationwide.
“A key component of our programming is bridging academic gaps and fostering a love of learning among our club members. Physical spaces directly influence a child’s ability to learn, grow and develop meaningful relationships with others,” said Brandy Harris, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, in the release. “The Panda Cares grant helps us eliminate barriers to academic success and provides club members with engaging, functional spaces."
Asian dining chain Panda Express’ philanthropic arm has raised more than $237 million since 1999, according to the release.
Led by a team of gardening experts, Harvest Grow Supply offers know-how alongside more than a thousand products.
