Johnny Morris' Big Cedar Lodge hired a new director to oversee its five golf courses.
Jeff Steen starts Aug. 9 as director of agronomy, according to a news release. He succeeds Todd Bohn, who exited after more than five years with Big Cedar in July to become director of agronomy for The Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to his LinkedIn profile.
At Big Cedar, Steen will oversee all golf course operations, management of four superintendents, landscape plans and golf grounds department staff.
“Joining the team at Big Cedar is a true dream come true,” Steen said in the release. “Johnny Morris is not only one of the most generous conservationists of our times; he’s also one of the most imaginative and successful promoters of golf in America today."
The five golf courses under Steen's management are Buffalo Ridge, Mountain Top, Ozarks National, Payne’s Valley and Top of the Rock.
The newest course, Payne's Valley, opened in September 2020. The course was designed by professional golfer Tiger Woods' TGR Design and named after Springfield native Payne Stewart, who died in 1999.
