Two basketball championships headed to Springfield next month are expected to generate a combined economic impact in the millions of dollars.
The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is predicting an economic impact of roughly $7.8 million for the National Christian Homeschool 2023 Basketball Nationals and the Missouri State High School Activities Association 2023 State Basketball Championships, according to a news release.
The National Christian Homeschool tournament, scheduled March 11-17, has an estimated economic impact of $4.7 million. CVB officials additionally expected the tournament to generate 7,685 room nights at local hotels and total attendance of 10,000.
The MSHSA event is projected at $3.1 million in economic impact. The March 8-11 and March 15-18 tournament is bringing an expected 40,000 attendees and 7,500 room nights, according to the release.
