2022 40 Under 40: Jessie Hughey

Jessie Hughey’s entire professional career has firmly remained in banking, with over a decade at The Bank of Missouri.

Now 31, Hughey was promoted at the age of 24 to vice president and senior small-business loan officer for the bank, where she started in 2011 as a part-time teller.

During the coronavirus pandemic, she  spearheaded participation among the bank’s 10 branches in the Paycheck Protection Program, resulting in over $62 million in funds being dispersed in local communities.

In the civic realm, Hughey is participating in Leadership Springfield Signature Class 41 and in 2016 joined the Springfield chapter of the Association for Women in Communications, for which she’s held many roles, including president.

First job? Outside of working for my dad as a child, my first job was working as a tutor for college algebra at Missouri State University. 

What about your job would shock people? My daily duties include community development and planning events.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Live life to the fullest, as it goes by quickly.

Favorite TV show? “How I Met Your Mother.” We watch it annually and quote it often.

Favorite local order? Sushi, specifically the Hope Roll from Nakato.
