417 Magazine operator Whitaker Publishing LLC has changed ownership.
Whitaker Publishing founders Joan and Gary Whitaker sold the company to their daughter, Logan Aguirre, who previously served as its president and associate publisher. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in a news release issued this morning.
"Over the past 14 years, she has successfully mastered almost every position in the company," Gary Whitaker said in the release. "She is more than qualified and ready to lead 417 into the next decade and beyond.”
The Whitakers created Whitaker Publishing to purchase 417 Magazine in 2001. The publication was started in 1998 by Radio 2000, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. Whitaker Publishing added 417 Bride in 2003, 417 Home in 2004 and Biz 417 in 2016, according to the release.
Currently chair-elect of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Aguirre also is taking over the publisher position at Whitaker Publishing with the ownership change.
The Whitakers will continue to be involved in advisory roles, according to the release.
The Pickle LLC and The Chilly Dill LLC opened; food truck Whatcha Cooking launched; and Architect Coffee Co. LLC debuted its second location.
