Description: The Children’s Safety Center facility was designed with three secure-entrance areas representing the organization’s core programs, according to project officials. The first contains a lobby and administrative areas, as well as spaces for survivors of child abuse, forensic interviews and advocate offices. The second area includes rehabilitation rooms and therapy offices, while the third area houses support and community outreach functions. Each child served by the Children’s Safety Center will paint and place their handprint on the walls. Design officials say handprints also will be showcased on the building’s facade, and a fingerprint pattern is used on wall glazing that creates privacy while letting natural light flow to the interior.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
