Three months after opening Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes downtown, the Jalili family is preparing to expand the concept to Chesterfield Village.
Co-owner Mike Jalili said the team is planning a May opening for a second restaurant at 2154 W. Chesterfield Blvd., which previously housed The Traveling Chef LLC.
“We have had a lot of people that can’t get in,” Jalili said of the downtown restaurant at 209 E. Walnut St. and the need to open a second location. “It is doing really well. It’s above our expectations.”
Declining to disclose early sales figures at the downtown restaurant, Jalili said the 3,700-square-foot south-side location across from Summit Preparatory School is leased from Larry Lipscomb of Dearborn Development Inc. for undisclosed terms.
Mike Jalili and Billy and Sara Jalili, owners of Flame and Touch, on
Nov. 13 opened Black Sheep downtown at the site of former Jalili venture Bijan’s Sea and Grille.
The restaurant serves burgers made with house-ground meat and shakes made with Andy’s Frozen Custard, among other menu items.
“I spent a lot of time on that menu,” Mike Jalili said. “I spent hours, hundreds of hours.”
As the family transitions to focus on the Black Sheep concept, Jalili said their Galloway Village concept tentatively dubbed Chops at Galloway - which had been set to open in May or June on Lone Pine Avenue - is on hold for the immediate future.
