This year’s finalists for the Springfield Contractors Association Design Team of the Year were tasked with maximizing the use of space. These firms stepped up to the challenge by transforming a former day care into an animal shelter, designing a 415,000-square-foot warehouse and operations center expansion and doubling the size of a high school’s sports stadium.
The projects are the Nixa High School stadium, Republic Animal Control Center and SMC Packaging Group.
The winning design team will be announced at the Salute to Design and Construction Awards’ 36th annual banquet scheduled Nov. 5. The awards celebrate notable projects, developers and construction leaders. This year, it will be held virtually on YouTube.
A 10-person selection committee of industry professionals selected this year’s design team finalists and winner, said SCA Board President David Foreman. Design teams were judged on exterior and interior design, creativity, quality, teamwork and community impact of the project, he said.
