Island Green Golf Club owners negotiating sale

The owners of Island Green Golf Club in Republic are in negotiations to sell the 18-year-old course.

Regina Sarber, general manager for the 18-hole course, said the club owned by the Boatright family has an interested buyer, but no contract has yet been signed. She anticipated the sale to close within three to four months — around the end of golf season. Beverly Boatright, who performs events and marketing work for her family’s course, also confirmed via email a sale is in the works. Both declined to disclose the potential buyer.

Beverly and Jane Boatright are listed as officers of Island Green Golf Club Inc. in a February secretary of stating filing. Dale Boatright, who died in 2014, developed the roughly $6 million course designed by golf course architect Jerry Slack, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. The course is known for its 15th hole, the namesake of Island Green featuring an island with an access bridge.

Sage Real Property Solutions handled the bidding process for the 7,000-yard course with a clubhouse and pool. Bids were due March 27 in anticipation of a sale April 10, according to the company’s Facebook page and website.

“Dale spent 17 years building his dream but passed away before all facets of his vision could be implemented,” the listing reads. “The Boatright family has now decided that this is the right time to pass the baton and allow its new owner(s) to facilitate the dream.”

The listing for the 169 Country Club Drive property does not include an asking price, but notes a $100,000 deposit was required. Marty Rogers, principal of Sage Real Property Solutions, could not be reached for comment by deadline.
