Nixa chamber director resigns suddenly

Posted online
Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marc Truby resigned suddenly after three years at the helm.

Chamber Board of Directors Chairwoman Beth Biondo said Truby’s resignation was effective Friday.

Biondo, an area Little Caesars franchisee, said Truby submitted his letter of resignation to the board that day, but didn’t say why he was stepping down.

“He didn’t speak other than that,” she said, noting the chamber did not ask him to resign. “We just received a letter and we went from there.”

In an emailed notice, chamber officials said Truby resigned to “pursue other opportunities that are currently available to him.”

“Marc has added new programs and expanded existing programs. The Nixa chamber is well respected in the community and the surrounding area, and under Marc’s leadership, it has continued to advance the interests of Nixa-area businesses and the community as a whole,” officials wrote in the notice.

Biondo said the chamber will accept applications for the director position through Jan. 15. She said the salary would be around $40,000.

Truby, who could not be reached for comment, was no longer in the Nixa chamber office this morning.

Prior to joining the chamber, Truby directed sales and managed some 700 members at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club.
