Wal-Mart hiring for third Neighborhood Market

Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on July 16 opened a hiring center as it ramps up plans to hire 90 people to work at the Neighborhood Market under construction in the James River Commons shopping center.

Store Manager Tara Pike said the retailer is looking to hire full-time and part-time employees for all areas of the store, including supervisory positions.

“We are excited to add this Walmart Neighborhood Market to Springfield and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area,” Pike said in a news release.

Applications are being accepted at the hiring center, 4200 S. Quail Creek Ave.,  8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays. Those interested in a job also can apply online at WalmartStores.com/Careers. The hiring center will be open through Aug. 31.

Since May, Wal-Mart has opened two Springfield Neighborhood Market stores at 1320 S. Glenstone Ave. and 3150 W. Republic Road. The retailer also has plans to open a Neighborhood Market at 3536 W. Mount Vernon St. by October. Wal-Mart spokesman Dan Morales said previously the company planned to hire 360 workers for its four grocery-focused stores in Springfield.

Wal-Mart's benefit program is offered to eligible full-time and part-time employees. It includes medical insurance with no lifetime maximum, matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise for store associates, a Sam’s Club membership for club associates, a stock purchase program for associates and company-paid life insurance. In addition, eligible associates can receive quarterly incentives based on their job performance, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
