The Ozarks Regional YMCA Board of Directors has filled its top executive post left vacant earlier this year.
Steve Gimenez relocated to Springfield to start as the organization's CEO on July 15, according to a news release.
Gimenez succeeds 11-year executive Brad Toft, who
took a position in April as CEO of the Ohio-based YMCA of Greater Toledo.
Gimenez had served since 2008 as senior vice president and chief operating officer of the Florida-based YMCA of Greater Miami. While working the job, his tasks included oversight of eight operational units, 5,200 member units and 650 staff for the $14 million association, the release said. His move makes him CEO of the roughly $11 million local YMCA.
“It is an honor to be a part of an organization that promotes the core values and character building that is taught at the Y," Gimenez said in the release. "I feel the Ozarks Regional YMCA promotes these values to our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, and I am looking forward to being an integral part of that mission."
Gimenez was chosen from a pool of 74 candidates following a national search conducted by the local board with help from the YMCA of the USA, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
