O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) board Chairman David O’Reilly this week sold 30,000 shares of the auto retailer’s stock.
The May 2 transaction by O’Reilly was valued at $7.8 million, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
The only other trade so far in May by an O’Reilly Automotive official was by board member John Murphy. On May 1, he sold 600 shares to earn $153,460, according to a separate SEC filing.
O’Reilly Automotive recently reported first-quarter profits rose 15 percent to $304.9 million. The company’s shares have spiked by as much as 17 percent.
ORLY shares were trading at $260.39 as of 10:17 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $169.43 to $279.23.
