Walmart Neighborhood Market
Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. opened its first Neighborhood Market in Springfield May 16 at 3150 W. Republic Road. It is one of four Neighborhood Markets slated for Springfield, and the first location in Missouri. The 41,000-square-foot, roughly $1.7 million store is smaller than a Walmart supercenter and carries groceries, pharmaceuticals and general merchandise. “As far as grocery, we have everything that a supercenter has, all of your consumable needs -– paper goods, chemicals, pet food, health and beauty aids and pharmacy,” said Jamie Dahmer, store manager, noting that the store doesn’t carry house wares, toys, electronics or apparel. Dahmer, a 16-year veteran with Wal-Mart, leads a staff of 94 full- and part-time employees. Hours: 24 hours daily. Phone: (417) 520-3144. Web: Walmart.com

Penmac Staffing Services Inc.
Springfield-based Penmac Staffing Services Inc. opened its 29th branch – a limited-hour office at 107 S. Market St. in Mount Vernon – on May 14. Penmac provides temporary and permanent staffing services for a variety of industries, including manufacturing, clerical, transportation, medical, technical and human resources, in several states. The office is managed by Norma Person, a six-year Penmac employee who also leads the company’s Monett branch. There also is a staffing specialist in the Mount Vernon office. For now, the office is open two days a week, but company officials have said hours will expand as business increases. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday and Thursday. Phone: (417) 316-9018. Web: Penmac.com

QRPro.co
Co-founders Jeremy Bartley and Josh Willis launched QRPro.co on Jan. 2. The company, a division of QR Solutions LLC that operates from 111 S. Main St. in Nixa, developed an interactive, smart-phone enabled business card called the One Card. The Web-based platform provides users’ contact information such as phone, e-mail and address with GPS, and it links to social media profiles and imports to the phone’s contacts, said CEO Bartley, who has run Identity Image Consulting in Nixa for five years. “It creates one central point to send customers so they can choose how to connect with you and your business,” Bartley said, noting each card has a unique URL. “It’s a physical link to a digital world.” The One Card costs $100 and covers a one-year subscription, including desktop and tablet versions, and automatic software updates, Bartley said. After the first year, the subscription rate is $35. Hours: appointment only. Phone: (417) 893-0073. Web: QRPro.co
