Sara Wilson moved her home-based quilting and sewing services July 6 to a storefront at 326. E. Commercial St. Called Crinklelove, the one-person shop offers machine quilting, boutique fabrics and quilted home goods. Wilson works with a Gammill Statler Stitcher Optimum computerized system and offers 150 designs. She said quilt orders start at $45, and she charges 2 cents per square inch. Fabric is sold by the yard, from $8-$11.50. Also available on Etsy, 20-by-20-inch patterned pillows are priced $30-$40 apiece. Sewing and quilting classes are available. Camp Bow Wow-Springfield
Tony and Jamie Caruso acquired the Springfield franchise operation for Camp Bow Wow dog day care March 2 from the Colorado-based Camp Bow Wow corporation for undisclosed terms. Former franchisee Danielle Magers brought the concept to the market 10 years ago, and the Carusos reopened Oct. 3 at 1900 W. Sunset St. The 7,500-square-foot indoor/outdoor space has 59 private, climate-controlled “cabins” for single dogs or multiple canines from the same household. Jamie Caruso said the day care and boarding facility employs 20, including those who stayed on in the transition. Other services include 24-hour monitoring, bathing and nail trimming. The Carusos also operate a Camp Bow Wow in St. Clair Shores, Mich., and have a second home in Springfield. Hours: 6:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. European Wax Center
European Wax Center opened Aug. 14 at 2144 E. Republic Road, Ste. 102, in Farmers Park. Owned by franchisees Debra and Derek Willyard, General Manager Alicia Munigia said 11 licensed estheticians offer nearly 30 types of waxes each for women and men, ranging from a $10 lip or chin wax to a $68 leg wax. The center, one of 600 operated by the Florida-based chain, leases 1,200 square feet for undisclosed terms.
